Roadtrippers

If you believe that getting there is half the fun, Roadtrippers is the app for you. Just enter your starting and ending location, and Roadtrippers offers you the chance to add stops to your route, including attractions, accommodations, dining, campgrounds, and more. It even calculates an estimated cost for fuel. The basic version is free to use, but for a $29.99 annual upgrade (also included with a Roadpass Pro membership), you get unlimited stops, live traffic updates, and more.

Overnight RV Parking

Overnight RV Parking is the largest database of free overnight RV parking locations in North America, and access is included as a benefit of a Roadpass Pro membership. Each location is color coded, so you can easily tell if it allows free parking, paid parking, or is part of a membership. It even shows which locations don’t allow overnight parking, so you never have to worry if the Walmart in town will let you stay.

Campendium

AllStays

AllStays is a robust resource for planning an RV trip. It shows you RV-friendly Walmart locations, RV service stations, and low-clearance bridges along your route. It also displays restaurants, accommodations, points of interest, and rest areas. AllStays is fast and reliable—all the information is downloaded to your phone, so you don’t need to rely on cell phone service. Sites typically offer dry camping and members are encouraged to purchase something from the host to thank them for their hospitality. Want to know about public campgrounds where you’re headed? Ultimate US Public Campgrounds is the app for you. It also provides information about the number of RV sites, electric hookups, showers, and more. Since public campgrounds tend to be less expensive than private campgrounds (or sometimes even free), it’s a useful app for those trying to stay on a budget. Of the more than 41,000 public campgrounds in the database, half cost $10 or less. The price to download the app is $3.99.

The Best RV GPS Navigation Apps:

CoPilot

COPILOT GPS features an app specifically designed for RVs. Simply input information about your rig, and CoPilot will find the appropriate route for your rig’s weight and height. Maps are available in both 2D and 3D versions and include detailed information about road signs and turn lanes. Audio navigation and speed limit indicators make it easy to safely use CoPilot while driving without looking at the screen. INROUTE certainly shares many features with the previously mentioned apps, but it has one unique feature RVers might especially appreciate. This app allows you to devise a route based on various options, including curviness and elevation. Travelers to mountainous regions will especially appreciate this if they’d like to avoid white-knuckle drives. inRoute also checks the weather, giving you a heads up about severe weather ahead. Facebook

There’s so many organized communities (called Groups) on Facebook (available here for Android and here for iPhone) that are helpful to new RVers- full-time RVing, boondocking, women RVers, whatever group you’re looking for, there’s probably an existing community or you can create one! There are stories of families meeting on Facebook and then plan a trip together to meet in real life! 

Amazon

Need an obscure charging cable or an extra headlamp? Amazon (available here on Android and here on iPhone) can help you with that, whether you’re at home or on the road. There are thousands of Amazon Lockers and Hubs in over 900 cities across the United States, in convenient places like grocery stores or gas stations. If you’re not close to home, you can search for an Amazon locker near you or your next destination when you select your shipping address at checkout. Once your package has been delivered to the locker you selected you’ll receive an email from Amazon including a code. Just show up at the locker location, input your code, and the locker with your package will pop open.
