I’ve been wanting this RV Lock for the last 3 years now for my 2019 Class A Berkshire 34QS. However, they don’t have one available yet in stock that will fit my coach. I have seen some videos on how to install this, and I know that it’s a breeze to install it provided it fits based on the measurements they asked for (2 1/4 - 2 1/2”) from the edge of the lock to the edge of the door. Well, my door only measures at 1 1/2” from the door edge to the edge of the lock. The good news is that the overall dimension of the lock is exactly the same as the original lock on my coach, and the door has the calibration hole on the side of the door. So, I took a chance in ordering the RVLock Atlas Keyless entry, knowing that if I can’t get to work, I’m out $300. The lock arrived a week later, and I already loved the unit. I removed the old lock and compared it with the new RVLock Atlas, and immediately, I noticed that the deadbolt, and the calibration bolt are a lot longer than the old lock. Also, the calibration bolt on the new lock was bent the opposite way the new RVLock Atlas was bent. So, first I had to cut the deadbolt, and the calibration bolt the same length as the old lock, after which I bent the the calibration bolt, similar to the way the old lock was bent. It took me some trials and errors to bend the calibration exactly, to make it fit. Success! About an hour later, I got the RVLock Atlas to work, just the way it was designed to work. This product is great! Highly recommended. If you are a DIY person and they don’t have one for your coach, a little modification, and this RVLock works perfectly.
Way to go! We are so happy to hear that you were able to modify the handle to work for your specific door.
Welcome to the RVLock family!
I ordered a lock, right before Christmas, and the first one they sent was beat up and clearly a used product, which they replaced. The second lock the calibration bolt was bent, thus making the installation impossible since, when I did get the bolt on and the nut on, it would stress the lock to the point my plastic trim would bend out. Not wanting it to break I called and explained the situation. The woman actually suggested taking the plastic trim off in favor of some “trim tape” (whatever that is) that they would provide. I took off the plastic trim to see what that would look like - see below. The fact that they thought that was a reasonable solution would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
Installed this on our 2019 Newmar. Easy install although a second set of hands would have helped.
Works as described and will be a nice upgrade to the RV.
The lock arrived in a timely manner and looked exactly like the lock on my door. It is a nice, well built lock and I was excited to install it. Unfortunately as I began, I realized that is was not going to work. The inside of my lock is sunk in about 1/2 inch. Thus the adjusting rod is bent outward to inter the adjusting hole. This lock had the adjusting rod bent inward so that I could not properly get the inter and outer units to fit. It is unfortunate, that the way the lock is built, it is impossible to change/adjust the rod. Otherwise it is a nice lock unit which I wish would have fit. The quality of the unit deserves a 5 Star rating.
Thanks for leaving that review!
I am so sorry that our handle ended up not working out for you! There's a small percentage of rigs out there that are exactly like yours where it looks like it should work but then that rod is bent the other direction!
I will let you know that our product designers are working on a handle that should hopefully be released early next year (if there are no delays) that will be compatible with your rig! here It will be similar to the Atlas but with inter-changeable parts to resolve situations just like yours! There also are a few other updates they are making that will just make the handle more user-friendly and compatible with more rig styles out there!
See you on the road!
Not a direct replacement for a Winnebago Adventurer. Need a Dremel to do some trimming which was expected.
Also, would be nice if the outer face plate (with the handle) was about an inch wider all around and would cover the wear spot made by the original lock faceplate. The box was also missing the 2nd remote which the salesrep sent out when contacted but had to exchange 4/5 emails beforehand and submit pictures. (Why pictures of the lock with a missing remote?) Rep said...for warranty purposes. That's getting creative with words...warranty purposes.
The (dead bolt) that slides into the door jam is...small compared to the original.
A lock is basically just to keep an honest man honest and this RV lock is fine otherwise.
Thank you for the review! I apologize that you had some issues with the sizing of the outer plate. We have a standard size for our handle to best fit all RVs, but some handles are slightly larger or smaller than ours. I'm also sorry that you received a fob that was not properly working, but I'm happy to hear that we were able to correct this by sending a new fob! Please let me know if you have any additional questions about this handle or concerns. Thank you!
