RVLock Mechanical Baggage Handle

The handle looks good, mounts well, is an easy 10 minute swap to replace the OEM lock, BUT…mechanically, it is plastic - the mechanical linkage arms and all visible pieces, other that the striker plates and locking pin are plastic. I kept and used the OEM metal backing plate instead of using the RV Lock plastic backing plate/cover. A plastic linkage security device that will possibly be attacked with a pry bar or large pliers is a bad idea. Security is the key word here. If you could combine the quality build of the OEM lock that I took out and replaced with the RV Locks, you’d have the perfect setup. My main reason for purchasing these was to add additional locking latches where some bays only had a single lock, and equally so, to go to a single unique key. With buying these, I feel like I took a step backwards from a quality/security standpoint. I’d pay a little more to have the feeling that I have not compromised quality in securing my RV.

If you up grade your main door you should the other doors too. So nice keeping with one key. Looks factory and very easy to install. Took 15 minutes to take old out put new in.

Well they look nice but are made of a lot of plastic. Orders 8 to change out all my locks. 1st two I pulled out and installed one was already broke. The other 6 were good. The white plastic piece that does all the work,I think should be the one piece that should be metal. Was thinking about sending them back but cost to much to send them. Guess there life time warranty so just installed them. Customer service is great knew just what I needed sent the two plus two more to keep incase they break so can fix and then order more.

Make sure you measure your thickness of your door the find your fit on the site was wrong for mine and got the wrong back. Ended up using the back off the factory locks. Cut 1/8 inch off the 4 mounts they slip right in and pulled up tight.

Over all I like them beside them being all plastic and the one white plastic part that is probably the only part that can possibly break over time. But pretty easy to fix if it.

I all ready have the V 3.0 keyless handle. Love it.

The size and shape is perfect as a replacement. It was great being able to get it keyed alike with my other RVLock purchases. This particular baggage compartment handle is mostly plastic, unlike the existing one that came from the factory that happened to be all metal. I had issues with the install, where the tongue (latch bolt) extended farther than the catch would allow. Additionally, when trying to size the catch hole to match, as I was testing the fit, a plastic piece that was part of the opening mechanism broke and rendered the whole unit inoperative. RVLock was quick to send a replacement, so kudos to them! However, I am rethinking the use of this handle/lock set since it's >90% plastic.

Six stars. Easy to install. Very solid. Easy to program. Did not have to cut anything. Plug and play. Hands down best upgrade I’ve made to the 5th wheel. The key fobs are the best I have seen. Very sturdy, not cheap. Wife happy. Baggage locks are next!
